Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint

Milk Paint is an ancient all-natural paint containing basic ingredients including milk protein (casein), limestone, clay and natural pigments. When absorbed into the surface, Milk Paint will never chip or peel when applied to a raw wood surface. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications and is naturally mold resistant. Milk paint provides a completely breathable coating and is ideal for painting wood, plaster, drywall and a variety of other surfaces.  It is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and contains no VOCs.

With the Milk Paint Bonding Agent you can use Milk Paint on even more surfaces such as previously painted walls, varnished surfaces, ceramic tiles, metal, glass etc.  Without the bonding agent, Milk Paint will resist some prefinished or prepainted surfaces to achieve an authentic “chippy” look.

One quart of milk paint covers approximately 70 sq. feet.  Simply mix this powder with water- it’s that easy! A Milk Paint finish is unique and can range from a solid color to a stain, it all depends on how much water you add! It can be used on any porous surface without a primer. It will never chip or peel on porous surfaces as it soaks in and binds with the substrate.

Dixie Belle Paints

Have a piece you love, but it’s sadly out of date? We all do honey! Now it’s no problem to bring your old love into this century. How does Dixie Belle Paint work? Dixie Belle Paint has superb adhesion qualities which allow you to skip the sanding and priming prep work required of other paints.

Using 150 grit sandpaper, sand the edges, high points and area where there would be normal wear. Dixie Belle Paint will simply fade away.

A large jar will cover a large size dresser and 2 nightstands, the small jar, a coffee and 2 end tables. Dixie Belle Paint is thick and adding small amount water as you paint, is recommended. Doing that will also make it last longer!

Do I need to prep the surface before painting?

Your piece should be free of dirt, dust and grime before painting. A regular cleaning using soap and water with a damp rag is typically sufficient. As with anything, if it's super grimy, a cleaning with some TSP will help.

Tips:

 - Dixie Belle Paint is very thick and a little goes a long way. The longer the lid stays off, the thicker it will get. If you'd like it thinner, no worries, just add a little water and stir. Add too much water? No worries, just leave lid off and it will thicken up. Whatever consistency you desire, Dixie Belle Paint will work for you!

- Distress a little too much for your taste? That's okay! Just paint right over that area and start again!

- Most pieces will take one to two coats for full coverage. Sometimes, after the first coat dries it will look blotchy. Don't freak out! After the second coat, it will be beautiful!

- Sometimes you will see brushstrokes, don't worry, as the paint dries, they will disappear.
